Writing

I studied English and Related Literature at the University of York and have always loved crafting text for performance, whether creating new work from scratch, or adapting old source materials.

I am available for writing work, either producing fresh scripts or editing and reshaping existing drafts.

The Museum of Trees

In 2023 I wrote text for an immersive production by One Hundred in Hangzhou, China. The Museum of Trees reinvented the myth of Daphne and Apollo.

The Burnt City

As a Creative Associate on Punchdrunk’s recent long-running London show, I had a special responsibility for composing text. I wrote scripts for live performance and for prerecorded voiceovers. Other texts were printed, to be read by audience members while they explored the set. I also produced material for advertising campaigns to promote the show, and for a special experience for lottery winners that was sponsored by the headline partner, Porsche.

The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable

I wrote scripts for live performance and for prerecorded voiceovers heard throughout the show. This included the speech heard by all visitors just before entering into the space. I also created the text for associated promotional materials, including the trailer and the video announcing the show’s eventual closure. A short film made during the run features in its second half one of the scenes from the show that I scripted.

The Third Day: Autumn

I was commissioned to write additional material for this unprecedented live TV broadcast, which was nominated for a BAFTA. Specifically, I produced a sequence of prayers, loosely based on the traditional Stations of the Cross, to be publicly recited by the islanders as part of the elaborate religious ceremony.

The Trust

I wrote a wealth of material for this project, conceived as a digital app on mobile devices and developed in collaboration with Niantic, the makers of Pokemon Go.
